Termite Inspections

Termites eat at structures 24 hours a day, seven days a week. With the potential to cause major structural issues to your home or business, it is recommended to get a termite inspection before purchasing a new property, as well as every few years, to ensure that termites aren’t present.

Regular home inspections likely won’t tell you whether termites are present, but will only alert you if significant structural damage has already taken place as a result of termites. For this reason, it is strongly recommended to have a professional exterminator, like the ones at Lake Mead Pest Control, inspect your property for signs of a termite infestation.

Signs of Termites

You don’t have to be a professional exterminator to keep your eyes out for signs of termites any more than you need to be one to notice signs of cockroaches. But like any other type of pest, once you can see the signs of them there’s probably already a significant presence. Here are some of the easiest ways to tell if you have a termite problem:

You See Them – If termites are visibly present, you probably have a termite problem. They’re more visible around window sills and after those far and few between Las Vegas rainfalls.

You See Mud Tunnels – When a termite comes across a material they can’t eat, such as concrete, they create a mud tunnel about the width of a pencil. If you notice something that looks like a termite mud tunnel it’s possible that you have termites.

You Notice Wood Damage – Even in the brutal Las Vegas climate, sudden wood damage such as, weakened wood awnings, brittle wood beams, and wood finishes falling apart, are’t normal. If you notice any of these signs, it’s possible that you have termites.

When to Call a Termite Inspector

At Lake Mead Pest Control we have seen the devastating damage a termite infestation can cause to any structure. When it comes to termites catching them early is key to avoiding major structural damage these persistent pests create. We recommend calling a termite inspector prior to purchasing any home, commercial building, or office.

For home and business owners we recommend scheduling a reinspection periodically with your pest control technician. While we keep our eyes out for any new infestations during your routine pest control service, the necessary inspection to catch termites before they become major problems is more in depth and thorough.
